A sight glass fits inline in the oil return line or reservoir wall of a lubrication system, giving a maintenance technician a direct visual check on oil flow and condition without opening the circuit. A quick glance confirms that oil is actually circulating back to the reservoir on each pump cycle, and lets a technician spot discoloured or aerated oil before it causes bearing damage.

The glass section is fitted with metal flanges and tie rods so that pipeline vibration and stress are carried by the metal fittings rather than the glass itself, and the assembly resists the operating temperatures found in oil circulation and centralized lubrication circuits.
